Repurposing Content Across Platforms
You are already making the content. Posting it on one platform and leaving it there is leaving reach on the table. Repurposing takes 5 minutes and puts your content in front of a completely different audience.

What Repurposing Actually Means
You are not creating new content for each platform. You are taking the same video you already made for YouTube Shorts and posting it on TikTok and Instagram Reels as well. Same edit, same caption, different platform.

The Platforms
TikTok: The largest short form audience in the world. High organic reach especially for new accounts. You won't get monetised here unless you hit TikTok's own program requirements which are much harder to reach, but the exposure is valuable. A video that performs well on TikTok can drive people back to your YouTube channel where you are actually making money.
Instagram Reels: Slightly older demographic than TikTok but still massive reach. Again monetisation is limited but brand deals and sponsorships become more likely the bigger your presence grows across platforms. Having 100K followers on Instagram on top of your YouTube channel makes you significantly more attractive to brands.

The Small But Real Benefits
You are not going to get rich from TikTok or Instagram Reels anytime soon but here is what you do get:
More eyes on your content without any extra work
A backup if YouTube ever flags or removes a video/channel
Cross platform followers who eventually find their way to your YouTube
A larger overall presence that makes you more credible to brands and sponsors
More data on what content resonates, if something blows up on TikTok it will likely do well on YouTube too

Should You Focus On It?
Not at the expense of your YouTube output. YouTube is where the money is. Repurposing should take 5 minutes per video: download, upload, done. If it starts taking longer than that you are overthinking it.
Think of TikTok and Instagram as free distribution for content you already made. The upside is real, the effort is minimal, and there is no downside to doing it.
